TOOL OF THE MONTH
Name Tents

Make it easy on yourself when people change seats

With Write-On Wipe-Off, dry-erase name tents, it's easy for individuals to write in the nickname they wish to be called . . . no matter what seat they take.

And best of all, they're environmentally GREEN - reusable and built to last!

TIP OF THE MONTH

Clackerz

Don't overestimate
the value of quiet.

Some regard learning center noise as a sign of teacher error. But psychotherapist Fritz Perls* disagreed, suggesting that noise possesses creative potential. The question is: how to avoid bad noise and promote good noise?

Clackerz are playful "throwables" with stretchy strands and lightweight plastic beads, which make a pleasant clacking sound when knocked together.  They're a great accompaniment to learning reinforcement games.

Price:  $3.25 each

TOY OF THE MONTH

Coloring Book

Memories can come and go like magic

Use this Magic Coloring Book to show how quickly learners can absorb new material and "fill in the blanks," and how quickly it can disappear if the learning is not used and applied.  At the end of a workshop, ask your group, what "Magic Memory" they'd like to remember.

Laws of Learning
Thiagi
 by Thiagi

In this quick article, Thiagi reviews 14 Laws of Learning that pertain to adults, including:
  • Law of previous experience
  • Law of relevance
  • Law of self-direction
  • etc.

For each of these, he describes the law and suggests some facilitation techniques to help you tailor your workshop.

I dare say, many of these are good reminders for teaching younger learners as well.
