Cat-a-pult
your training!
Use
Cat-a-pult, a wonderfully playful activity, to
improve problem-solving, communication, team
functionality and (best of all) to promote laughter!
The challenge is to set up a chain-reaction of
flying foam cats by adjusting the launching pads
such that the first flying feline lands on the
target that triggers the flight of the next cat, and
so on & so on . . .!

TIP OF THE MONTH |
 |
|
Get to the Point!
When you ask your group what THEY learned, start by
telling them what YOU learned. By setting an
example, you will both encourage them to speak up
more, and be embraced as one of the group.
For you and the group, verbalizing learning points
makes it easier to recall and apply them.

TOY OF THE MONTH |
 |
|
Fiddle-sticks!
The
Fiddler's Kabob is the newest addition to our
collection of finger fiddles.
The colorful disks float on air, suspended loosely
on their post, seemingly defying gravity. Fingers
will enjoy spinning the disks and coaxing them to
bob up and down like magic!

Conserve Resources
Reusable name cards give a whole new meaning to the
conservation of resources.
When you use
Dry-erase Tents in your classroom, you'll save!
- Save Time: no more advanced preparation of
name cards
- Save Paper: no need to "print out" and "toss
out"
- Save Face: you won't call someone by a name
they don't like!
If you frequently ask students to move around the
room or break into groups, you might also enjoy the
convenience of being able to ask them to re-write
their name on whatever card is before them.

Put the words at the tip of your finger (and
tongue!)
Anne Morrow Lindbergh said, "Good communication is
as stimulating as black coffee, and just as hard to
sleep after."
Finding the right quote to support your topic or
idea is tricky business. But the internet makes it
easier than ever! We found the
World of Quotes site to be easy-to-use and chock
full of goodies.

FEATURE: A Lesson in Comedy
|
|
|
|
by Lynn Grasberg
One thing Lynn Grasberg knows is that in public
speaking, humor works. "In fact," she says, "it's
essential. You do not have to be a stand-up comedian
to hold your audience but you do have to be able to
find and share the absurdities of life with them.
And keep your perspective when little things go
"wrong" (when the lighting, sound system, or your
brain temporarily blows a circuit, for example).
In her article,
Can Comedy be Taught?, Grasberg dispels the myth
that comedy cannot be taught (or learned) by
offering a handful of tips on how to make it happen.
Lynn Grasberg, a.k.a.
Penelope the Clown, is the former director of
the San Francisco School of ReMirthing and is
currently Chief Comic Officer for Humor Relations
Associates. As a keynote speaker, corporate trainer
and presentation coach, she helps her clients use
humor to handle serious issues.
P.S. As President of Trainer's Warehouse and a
former circus clown myself, I am happy to see Ms.
Grasberg bringing humor into businesses and schools
around the country. --Sue Landay
