Students Click, and a Quiz Becomes a Game
Audience response clickers are becoming increasingly popular in today's corporate and educational learning centers--and for good reason!
In a 15-week study conducted by Andy Sharp and Angela Sutherland at the Caledonian Business School, 90.9% of the students surveyed either "Agreed" or "Strongly Agreed" that audience response systems improved engagement and participation; 81.8% said it increased their attention span and helped them learn more effectively. Winnie Hu, in her January 28th, 2008 New York Times article, describes a Great Neck South High School classroom--a lively scene in which "the students were not competing for grades (it was only a practice quiz), but they certainly acted as if they were."
