TOOL OF THE MONTH

Answers at a Glance!

Whiteboard on a Stick is our answer to seeing who knows what. The concept (like the name) is pretty simple. Pose a question to your class and have them jot down their answer with a dry-erase marker.

And now, each board comes with an attachable marker. Velcro(TM) attaches the marker to the board and the soft side doubles as an eraser. Neat, huh?

TIP OF THE MONTH

The Red Carpet

Treat your seminar attendees like Hollywood stars. When learners feel good, and are swimming in endorphins, they'll learn more.

This inexpensive mini Oscar Award can send a message of excellence with a touch of humor.

What's more, employee appreciation is critical for building morale and motivating workforces to produce better results--both in the classroom and in the workplace.

TOY OF THE MONTH

Flexibility is not Retro!

Gumby gives us a little blast from the past . . . but, in today's classrooms, Gumby is a state-of-the-art learning tool.

The flexible green toy that we've loved for generations is a perfect icon for flexibility. It is also a very satisfying fiddle that your kinesthetic learners will enjoy playing with as they listen and participate in your session.

Gumby's sidekick, Pokey, is also available.

The article below, excerpted from Training for Dummies, mentions flexibility as a key to "Having What It Takes to Be a Trainer."

FEATURE: Be Prepared

Denis Gratton

True or False?
1. All trainers are naturally well-organized and neat. 2. All training sites are well-stocked with supplies. 3. Training supplies are easy to organize and carry.

The underlying message in Denis Gratton's article on Trainer Preparedness is that we may not be as organized as we should be. Yet, becoming a "boyscout or girlscout," as it were, may not be as difficult as we think.

In this brief article, Gratton recommends a "must-have" packing list for all trainers.

Denis Gratton is Director of Product Development at Langevin Learning Services, which touts itself as "The World's Largest Train-The-Trainer Company," providing workshops for trainers since 1984.
