Tips for Effective
Training & Learning

  TOOL OF THE MONTH
Classroom music has never been easier!

NO fuss, NO copyright issues (we've taken care of that for you), and NO sound system needed!

Simply push a button to mark achievements, energize reinforcement games, or stimulate new thinking.

Brain researchers have found that music can play a critical role in learning by enhancing the emotional impact of an experience. As long as the emotional experience is not overpowering, music generally enhances people's memory and contributes to better retention. Song F/X plays:
  • Superman movie theme song
  • Olympic Fanfare
  • Dragnet theme song
  • Twilight Zone theme song
  • Thinking time Jeopardy-like tune
  • Pomp & Circumstance
Song F/X$39.95

 TIP OF THE MONTH
Don't keep the learning goal
a mystery

Despite their effectiveness, many remain skeptical about using games in training events. It doesn't need to be that way. No matter what energizer or game you play, simply tell participants what they should hope to get out of it, before -- during -- and afterward. It helps build credibility and understanding!

The Stress Free Debriefing Tools can be a great way to get attendees to discuss the observations (eye), learning points (brain), feelings (heart), questions (question mark), accomplishments (high-five hand), take-aways (foot), and the "ah-ha" moments (light-bulb) they've drawn from a learning activity.

eLearning 101

by Susan Landay

Recently featured as a top story in eLearn magazine was my article on eLearning 101.

The goal was to understand what eLearning tools are needed for what...and which ones are actually affordable to trainers who don't have huge corporate budgets.

The article breaks down the myriad of eLearning tools into four comprehensible categories that "Any Goofball Can Learn." Hope you'll excuse the language, but it's a great mnemonic to understand eLearning, where the A is for Authoring; G is for Games; C is for Conferencing and L is for LMS.
