DocU-Pockets in the Classroom!
Great Ideas from a Classroom Teacher ...
- Protect classroom materials from being destroyed with DocU-Pockets! Instead of laminating, which is expensive and permanent, let young students handle their alphabet cards without worry.
- Mount the DocU-Pockets on the wall or on a bulletin board with students' names attached to display their work. Easily change the work samples on a regular basis. Plus, telling them that you'll be displaying their work will motivate them to do their best! It will also save time and money spent on laminating.
- When teaching new concepts, slip the work sheet into a DocU-Pocket and give students a dry erase marker to practice with before they actually have to complete their own work sheet that will go home.
- Handwriting and number formation could be practiced directly on the DocU-Pocket. Students can trace over the symbols and follow the arrows to make sure they are learning the proper formation.
- Use DocU-Pockets for optional enrichment activities for when students finish an assignment early. Put worksheets in a DocU-Pocket with a self checking paper on the other side.
- DocU-Pockets and dry erase markers can be sent home at the beginning of the year and then weekly practice sheets could be inserted for developing their skills at home. What a great Home/School connection!
- Suspend the DocU-Pockets from the acoustical tile ceiling and label the different centers within a classroom. Suspend the letter of the week over your teaching table -- the students get much more exposure to the letter and will study it throughout the week.
